Live to Him
‘I come that they might have life.’
John 10:10
God formed man from the dust and breathed into his nostrils His ‘breath of life.’
Genesis 2:7
Awakened by the very breath of God, into a stunningly beautiful creation of peace, beauty, glory, and wonder.
Barefoot and naked except for the warm light of God’s love that pulsed inside and around them with every beat of their heart.
God created man in His own image.
Genesis 1:27
3
And God blessed them saying, Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and rule over everything.
I have given you every plant and tree with seeds for food. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, don’t eat from it or ‘dying, you will die.’
Genesis 2:17
You will break your union with God: He alone is life. And your body will begin decay.
With one bite of the only fruit forbidden,
4
the golden splendor of the glory of God in and around them alarmingly vanished. ‘I knew I was naked, so I hid myself.’
Think of the heartbreak of God: The ones created in His very image, and breathing His very breath, turned from Him to His enemy.
All the souls He planned to enjoy His stunningly wonderful creation were now doomed to suffer and die, ‘forever separated from the Lord and His glorious power.’
5
Their union with God was broken by believing a lie. And ‘As a man thinks in his heart, so he is.’ Proverbs 23:7
So, the way back is by believing the truth.
God doesn’t see as man sees. Man looks on the outside, but God looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7
A love so deep it couldn’t let go, a promise unfathomable.
The Lord took an innocent little lamb and
6
slaughtered it before their eyes to make them ‘coats of skin to cover their nakedness.’
Genesis 3:21
Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.’ John 1:29
(Archeologists uncovered many lambs bones at the sites of ancient civilizations.)
Only the blood of an infinite, eternal being could cover all the sins of all the universe for all time and eternity.
7
An astonishing promise that the Maker of all would become one of them and die in their place to right the wrong they did to God.
Infinite justice would be served, as all the punishment for every single wrong thought and deed in all the universe past, present, and future would fall on His infinitely holy, infinitely precious Son.
Man, angels, and animals are included in this: Having made peace through the blood
8
of His cross, to reconcile all things to Himself in earth and in heaven.
Colossians 1:20
He wants you with Him so much that He considered it worth it.
Jesus lived a perfect life for you in your place.
When death was defeated
God raised Him up.
It was impossible for an infinite, eternal One to be held by it. Acts 2:24
9
The infinite, eternal Almighty can be held by nothing but your love.
At dawn on first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
And there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it. His face was like lightning,
10
his clothing white as snow as he said to the women, ‘He is not here. He is risen.’ Matthew 28:6
The resurrection of Jesus is the most astounding event in human history.
Death conquered! Evil defeated! Jesus said it and did it before the eyes of heaven and the world.
Into the mess of human history
came the Son of God: The glory of holiness, the purity of heaven.
11
Heaven stood aghast. Hell stood aghast, when Jesus stepped into the arena, a baby: God born in human flesh.
John G. Lake
He lived 33 perfect years without one wrong thought or deed: showing His infinite power over the enemy.
Condemned in our place, crowned with thorns, the flesh whipped from His body, nailed to a cross of wood, naked, hanging between heaven and earth.
12
All the wrath of God against every wrong everywhere forever, was poured into the infinitely holy body of Jesus.
Then a sword was thrust
through His heart:
Showing forever that all His desire is toward you with a love that knows no bounds.
Three days later He was seen alive walking around whole by
‘over 500 at one time.’
1 Corinthians 15:6
13
Days later, ‘While they watched, He was taken up to heaven; and a cloud received him out of their sight.’ Acts 1:9
Jesus said to Martha before He raised her brother, Lazarus, from the dead, ‘
I am the resurrection, and the life:
He that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet he will live.’
John 11:25

The night before His death
Jesus told His disciples, I go to prepare a place for you,
14
I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you will be.  (The eternal throne.) John 14:3
The Lord will descend from heaven with a shout, the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we will be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord and will
always be with the Lord.’
1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17
All who seek Him have joined themselves to the Eternal.

Where I am you will be

Our God of
Heaven
Give thanks to the God of heaven:
for His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:26
Turn from all empty things to the living God, who made heaven, and earth,
and the sea, and all things in them.’
Acts 14:15

When the Lord sent Jonah to Nineveh to warn the people that He was about to destroy them for their evil, Jonah got up
and ran the other way,
from the Presence of the Lord,
because the Ninevites were Israel’s
much hated enemies.
But the Lord sent a great wind into the sea. The ship nearly broken.
The men prayed to their gods
and lightened the ship.
But Jonah was inside fast asleep.
4
The crew said, Let’s cast lots
to see whose fault this is.
The lot fell on Jonah. They asked him, Who are you?
Where you are from?
He said, ‘I am a Hebrew;
and I fear the God of heaven,
who made the sea and land.
 Jonah 1:4-8
The men were terrified saying,
Why did you do this?
He had told them he ran away
from the Lord.
They asked, What can we do?
For the sea was wild.
5
Jonah said, Throw me into the sea
and it will be calm.
The men rowed hard
trying to reach land
but the storm raged.

They prayed, Lord, don’t let us perish
for this man's life:
for you have done what pleased You.
Then they threw Jonah into the sea,
and it stopped raging.
The Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish 3 days and nights.
6
Jonah prayed, All Your waves rolled over me. The weeds wrapped around my head. I went to the bottoms of the mountains.
I will pay what I vowed.
Jonah had promised to do God’s will.
The Lord spoke to the fish,
and it vomited Jonah onto the beach.
When Jonah got to the city
he called out as he walked
the 3 days’ journey across the city,
In 40 days Nineveh will be overthrown.
7
The people believed God
and proclaimed a fast.
The king put on sackcloth,
and sat in ashes, saying,
Everyone turn from your evil ways,
and your violence.
Perhaps God will see and turn
from His fierce anger,
and we won’t perish.
God saw that they turned from their evil,
and He stopped His plan
to destroy them.
That enraged Jonah.
He prayed, This is why I fled!
8
I knew You are gracious and turn from doing harm. Just kill me now!
The Lord said, Is it right for you to be angry? Jonah left and made a booth for shade, to watch happened to the city.
The Lord made a plant grow over Jonah’s head. Jonah was very happy about the plant.
But in the morning God prepared a worm and it struck the plant so that it withered.
At sunrise God prepared a strong east wind.
9
The sun beat down on Jonah’s head. He was faint and wished to die.
God asked, Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?
And he said, Yes! even to death!
The Lord said, You had pity on the plant, that you didn’t grow.
Shouldn’t I spare Nineveh, that great city, where there are more than 120,000 that can’t tell their right hand from their left
(little children) and many animals?
10
God created each person in Nineveh in His own image and promised to send His own Son to buy them back to Himself, at the greatest price
ever to be paid for anything.
God shows His great love for us in that while we were still His enemies, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7, 8
In Babylon, after 70 years of captivity the Lord stirred up the spirit of king Cyrus, to send His children back to Israel.
Cyrus proclaimed,
11
The God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. And charged me to build Him a house at Jerusalem.
Enemies delayed the building of the temple until Darius was king.
Israel sent a letter asking Darius to search the archives for Cyrus’s decree
to rebuild Jerusalem.
The writing was found, and king Darius decreed for all those opposing,
under threat of execution,
‘stay far away from there' and pay all their expenses from your taxes there.
12
Supply all they need, ‘day by day without fail.’ For them to offer ‘sweet offerings to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.’ Ezra 1, 6:10
God that made the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth,
made of one blood all nations
to dwell on all the face of the earth
so that they would seek Him,
though He isn’t far from anyone.
For in him we live, and move,
and have our being.
13
He has appointed a day
when He will judge the world
in righteousness
by that man He ordained;
and has guaranteed this to all
by 'raising Him from the dead.’
Acts 17:24-3
When a man finds his lost sheep,
he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing,
and calls his friends saying,
Rejoice with me for I have found
my lost sheep.
I say to you there is joy in heaven
over one sinner that turns back to God.’
Luke 15:5-7
14
What joy in heaven over these ‘120,000 that don’t know their right hand from their left.’ (and their families)

through ages without end.

Twenty times in Leviticus the people who brought a sacrifice to the tabernacle to ‘draw near to God’ were told to place their hand on the head of the offering.
